2027 is a big anniversary year!
We invite you to join us to celebrate three milestones in NZSL teaching history:
- 35 years since the first formation of NZSLTA (1992)
- 30 years since the launch of the Dictionary of NZSL (1997)
- 30 years of the Certificate in Deaf Studies: Teaching NZSL at VUW (1997)
Over this time, the NZSL teaching profession has grown and had a huge impact on breaking down communication and attitude barriers for the Deaf community. Growth of this field has also supported many new professional opportunities and services.
This conference is an opportunity for NZSL teachers to celebrate our progress, reflect on current challenges and think together about future directions. The conference theme is:
“Energising NZSL Teachers”
We aim to make an exciting conference programme that will show the depth and diversity of knowledge, skills and creativity in our teaching community. We look forward seeing you here in Wellington!
